I was seventeen. The record came out in May and they told us in June and I spent July driving my mother's Corolla around a county I had already memorized, with one CD.
It's not a sad record. That's what made it usable. It's a warm, slightly tired record about being glad to be somewhere, which is exactly the thing I needed to be told over and over while the house I grew up in was being divided into two lists.
"Welcome, this is a farmhouse, we have cluster flies alas." Nonsense. Completely reassuring nonsense.
My mother sold the Corolla in 2004. I bought the CD again three separate times because I keep giving it to people who are going through it.

This is exactly why I wanted a place like this to exist.

I have never seen anyone describe the lot economy accurately before now.
